Appearance of iPhone 15 from iPhone 14
There are many differences between the regular iPhone lineup and the Pro lineup in terms of price and specifications. Among them, I would like to talk about the appearance of the regular model and the pro lineup.
Below is a table listing only the differences between all iPhone 15 series.

Titanium - for Pro models only
iPhone 15 - Plus on the left, Pro Max on the right
In terms of exterior materials, the regular iPhone 15 is Aluminum
, and the Pro is Titanium
.
In general, titanium is heavier than aluminum but has higher strength, so it is widely used in airport materials and aerospace industries. However, since aluminum has higher thermal conductivity than titanium, the regular iPhone 15 may be better in terms of heat control.
Series | Material | Color |
---|---|---|
iPhone 15 | Aluminum Ring/Slient switch | Pink, Yellow, Green, Blue, Black |
iPhone 15 Plus | Aluminum Ring/Slient switch | Pink, Yellow, Green, Blue, Black |
iPhone 15 Pro | Titaium Action button | Natural, Blue, White, Black |
iPhone 15 Pro Max | Titaium Action button | Natural, Blue, White, Black |
Color - Regular model is prettier
The regular iPhone 15
offers five colors, more than the Pro lineup. Pink, yellow, green, blue and black. The variety of colors appears to be targeting general customers.
The iPhone 15 Pro
is available in Natural, the natural color of titanium, as well as blue, white, and black. The color of the iPhone 15 Pro appears to be targeting professionals or high-end customers as it is heavier than the regular model.
Action button - something simpler might be better
The iPhone 15 Pro
supports an action button on the side of the body, which can be assigned to the user’s desired function. Assignable functions include silent mode, flashlight, shortcut, start voice memo, accessibility, launch camera, and focus mode.
The regular iPhone 15
only comes with Ring/Silent switch. Of course, if there is a configurable button, there are many possibilities for use, but if you are aiming for the simplicity of Steve Jobs in the early days of the iPhone, having only a Ring/Slient switch may not be a bad choice.
iPhone 15 - Side Button - Pro on the left, regular on the right
Display - too bad to distinguish between grades
The display
size is the same as the previous iPhone 14. The iPhone 15 regular and Pro
are 6.1 inches, and the Plus and Pro Max
are 6.7 inches.
Item | Size | Resolution | Etc |
---|---|---|---|
iPhone 15 | 6.1 Inch | 2556 x 1179 460 ppi | - |
iPhone 15 Plus | 6.7 Inch | 2796 x 1290 460 ppi | - |
iPhone 15 Pro | 6.1 Inch | 2556 x 1179 460 ppi | Refresh rates up to 120Hz Always-On display |
iPhone 15 Pro Max | 6.7 Inch | 2796 x 1290 460 ppi | Up to 120Hz Always-On display |
However, the resolution
has increased slightly compared to the iPhone 14. Regular and Pro have the same size and resolution, and Plus and Pro Max have the same size.
Apple’s strategy of dividing grades between models still remains. Only the Pro and Pro Max
support adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz
and always-on display
. Always-On Display
is a function that displays the date, time, remaining battery level, notifications, etc. on the screen even when the screen is turned off. Adaptive refresh rate 120Hz
promotes the number of screen drawings per second from 60 to 120, providing smoother screen playback.
The lack of 120Hz support for the regular model is quite understandable. However, the non-support of the Always-On display function seems to be too harsh a classification, as even the entry-level model of Samsung Galaxy supports it.
Dynamic Island - Finally, regular model is also supported
In the case of the regular model, the existing iPhone 14 model was in the form of a notch with a camera hole attached to the display. However, the regular model of the iPhone 15
has a punch hole
with a camera hole between the displays.
Camera Hole Design - Between iPhone 14 Regular and iPhone 15 Regular
Finally, regular model users can feel the same dynamic island
sensibility as Pro model users.
